Modernising the brand of a full service, award winning law firm.
A confident new identity for a growing law firm
Established in 1970, DMH Stallard has grown into an award-winning law firm with offices across five locations in the South East. Recognised for its expertise across property, family and business law, the firm has built a strong reputation and continued to expand, including being named Property Law Firm of the Year in 2020.
With a history to be proud of and ambitions for the future, DMH Stallard wanted a brand that better reflected its standing in the market. The challenge was to modernise the identity while retaining the heritage and recognition of the existing brand.
Understanding the opportunity
Working closely with the DMH Stallard marketing team, employee interviews and market research helped build a clear understanding of the firm’s history, market position and future ambitions.
The findings identified two key opportunities: to create a more flexible identity that could work consistently across a wide range of applications, and to establish a stronger visual presence in a competitive legal market.
A visual identity with energy and distinction
Movement became the central idea behind the new image library. Each image combines areas of motion blur with sharp, focused detail, overlaid with DMH Stallard’s brand colours to create a distinctive and recognisable visual style.
The library brings together location-based photography, conceptual imagery and visuals tailored to the firm’s sectors and services. This gives the team a versatile collection of assets that can be used across future communications, while maintaining a consistent look and feel.
A more vibrant colour palette, considered typographic system and distinctive suite of brand imagery brought greater clarity, consistency and character to the identity.
A voice that puts clients first
Retaining the original logo preserved a recognisable link to DMH Stallard’s heritage. Square-line graphic elements, inspired by the logo’s lozenge shape, brought it into the refreshed identity, creating a distinctive and versatile device for framing quotes and key statements across print, digital and large-format materials.
Alongside the visual refresh, the firm’s copy and tone of voice were refined to reflect the brand’s clarity and confidence. A series of straplines further reinforced DMH Stallard’s client-focused approach, including ‘Our focus is you’ and ‘Helping to shape your future’.
Typography was also carefully considered. A refined serif headline font introduces a sense of elegance and authority, balancing the firm’s established heritage with a more contemporary character.
A flexible brand built for the future
Applying the refreshed identity across digital, print and marketing materials demonstrated its flexibility and consistency in practice. From brochures and infographics to interactive documents and digital communications, the new system gives the DMH Stallard team greater creative freedom while maintaining a cohesive brand experience.
Ongoing collaboration continues to shape communications across a range of channels, building on an identity that respects the firm’s heritage, reflects its expertise and provides a strong foundation for future growth.
