With tens of thousands of employees working across the world, ExxonMobil needed internal communications capable of reaching people wherever they worked.

We partnered with the organisation to support its international communications strategy, creating engaging print and digital experiences designed to inform, connect and involve its global workforce.

At the heart of the relationship was Newsline, ExxonMobil’s monthly employee magazine, alongside a wider programme of communications supporting important initiatives across the business.

Reimagining a global publication

Newsline plays an important role in connecting ExxonMobil’s people, sharing stories, news and ideas across an extraordinarily diverse organisation.

We were asked to redesign and deliver the publication across both print and digital, creating an experience that felt engaging and contemporary while aligning with ExxonMobil’s wider visual identity.

With more than 60,000 employees receiving Newsline every month, the challenge went far beyond creating a great-looking publication. It had to work for everyone.

Accessibility was fundamental to the digital experience.

The online edition of Newsline needed to meet global accessibility standards while working for employees in very different environments. From high-speed offices to remote locations such as offshore oil rigs with limited bandwidth.

Strong imagery, clear typography and considered layouts helped make complex stories easier to explore.

We designed the platform to deliver an engaging experience regardless of connection speed or how employees accessed it.

Giving equality a stronger voice

Our work with ExxonMobil extended beyond Newsline.

We were also asked to support an internal campaign communicating the organisation’s work around equitable pay and raising awareness of its efforts to address the gender pay gap.

The campaign needed a distinctive identity of its own – something positive, confident and capable of making important information immediately accessible.

We created a bold graphical language that could bring statistics and key messages to the forefront.

Colour, imagery and graphic devices transformed detailed information into a clearer and more engaging visual story, giving the campaign a recognisable identity while allowing the most important facts to stand out.

Communication without boundaries

From a monthly publication reaching more than 60,000 employees to campaigns addressing important issues within the organisation, our work with ExxonMobil was united by one objective: making communication more engaging and accessible.

By thinking beyond individual formats and considering how, where and why people would experience the content, we created communications capable of reaching a diverse global workforce – whether they were in an office, working remotely or offshore.
